Resveratrol is a type of natural polyphenol compound, and a phytoalexin produced by several plants when the plant is under attack by pathogens.
Resveratrol is extracted from dried rhizome of reynoutria japonica, which is also known as polygonum cuspidatum or japanese knotweed. Resveratrol is off-white (50%) to white powder (98%), soluble in ethanol (50 mg/mL), DMSO (16 mg/mL), (50 mg/mL) and other organic solvents, hardly soluble in water (3 mg/100mL).
Health Benefits
1. Offer Anti-aging Property
Studies shows that resveratrol has the ability to extend lifespan by changing genes expression for some animals, such as worms and fish. However it's not clear if it would have a similar effect in humans.
2. Provide Antioxidant Property
Resveratrol may decrease cell oxidation, and prevent cells injury from free radicals and help repair damaged tissues.
3. May Lower Blood Pressure
Resveratrol may lower blood pressure by helping to produce more nitric oxide, which relaxes blood vessels and reduces resistance of blood flow. It may also reduce the risk of heart diseases.
4. Have Anti-inflammatory Effect
Resveratrol may inhibit the growth of various bacteria and reduce inflammations.
You can use resveratrol in your dietary supplements or cosmetics products to increase the value and performance of your products.
